The following steps are building blocks towards becoming a church planter. Each step must be completed before moving on to the next one.
- Seek confirmation from God in a tangible way that you have been called to become a church planter. You should be able to point to that event of confirmation, as well as point to God’s confirmation through “yes” answers to the following questions: Is your spouse receiving the same call? Is this the time to begin the process?
- Know your location. Where has God called you to plant a church?
- Share your vision. Identify people you believe will come along side you and help you develop a launch team. Ask God to reveal to you who these people are. They will be quality Christian leaders who want to serve in a highly effective church. They will be excited about your vision and be responsive to you as a leader.
- Establish the specifics. Name the church and identify the location.
- Formally and legally incorporate the church. Take steps to do this. People should be able to give to the church and not to you personally.
- Begin fundraising efforts. Start with those who have already expressed their support for the church, then expand those circles of support to include anyone you think may share your vision.
